Supporting the MOMMA Act

I support the Mothers and Offspring Maternal & Morbidity Awareness (MOMMA) Act, introduced by Representative Robin Kelly. This legislation tackles the alarming rise in Black maternal mortality by:

• Establishing standardized obstetric care protocols,

• Improving data collection systems, and

• Extending Medicaid coverage for new mothers up to one year postpartum.
  
  

Expanding Access to Alternative Birthing Options

Doulas, midwives, lactation counselors, and other paraprofessionals are essential yet underutilized resources in maternal care. I will fight to expand access to these services by:

• Licensing and standardizing care for doulas and midwives,

• Improving postpartum mental health services,

• Reducing disparities in breastfeeding support, and

• Ensuring holistic care is covered by public and private insurance.
